BBC research shows DAB is the most energy-efficient radio platform

At last week’s General Assembly, the BBC’s Sustainability Data Scientist Chloe Fletcher presented the a BBC study comparing the energy footprint of BBC radio across AM, FM, DAB, IP and DTV radio services. The study found that DAB radio services have the lowest energy consumption per device hour.

Interest in DAB+ at SET Brazil 2020

WorldDAB and ABU technical webinar series concludes with plans to launch a WorldDAB Asia-Pacific Technical Group

WorldDAB and the Asian Broadcasting Union (ABU) presented a technical webinar series this week, attracting over 100 broadcasters, network operators, regulators and other radio stakeholders. The series, which extended for three days, presented a panel of experts who explained the features and opportunities that DAB+ offers broadcasters in the Asia-Pacific region.

Radio has played a tremendously important role since the outbreak of Covid-19. Despite the significant challenges faced by many broadcasters since the start of the pandemic, radio listening is peaking, new DAB+ services are being launched across Europe and the WorldDAB network continues to grow.

Three new members join WorldDAB

Three new organisations have joined WorldDAB since May 2020. They are Malta's network operator Digi B Network Ltd., Chinese receiver manufacturer Hidaka Corporation and Azerbaijan's network operator Radio-Television Broadcasting and Satellite Communications Production Unity (Teleradio PU). WorldDAB now has a total of 106 members from 32 countries.
