WorldDAB to hold DAB+ workshop at ABU DBS 2021

Organised by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, the ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium 2021 will take place from April 5 to 8 and for the first time, the entire event will be held online in light of the ongoing global pandemic.

WorldDAB is proud to be the major sponsor of ABU DBS 2021, which will comprise of a four-day conference with a total of 12 sessions focused on topics of strong interest to broadcasters including advanced technologies, business strategies, content security, AI and big data applications and digital radio rollout.

As part of the event, WorldDAB will be hosting a DAB+ digital radio workshop on Tuesday 6 April at 16:10 - 17:10 MYT/ 09:10 - 10:10 GMT, with speakers addressing the following topics:

  • Joan Warner, CEO of Commercial Radio Australia and Chair of the WorldDAB Asia-Pacific Committee will provide a status update for DAB+ in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • WorldDAB Patrick Hannon will share an overview on the status and implementation of DAB+ worldwide.
  • Lindsay Cornell, Principal Systems Architect at the BBC Digital and Chairman and WorldDAB Technical Committee will provide a technical update on the DAB+ standards.
  • Dr Les Sabel, Chair of the WorldDAB Asia Pacific Technical Group, and S-Comm Technologies will share insights on the WorldDAB Asia Pacific Technical Group, and how to support broadcasters in the APAC region.
  • Ron Schiffelers, Senior Director Program Management at NXP Semiconductors will outline how to get DAB+ in cars.
  • Albert Tseng, CEO of Keystone Semiconductor Corp will outline the solutions available for affordable DAB+ consumer receivers.
