The North Sea Jazz music event which takes place in Rotterdam will be broadcast live on DAB+ via NPO.

It is the complete package offering lots of goodies with even entry-level models including Bluetooth connectivity, 16-inch alloys, DAB digital radio, LED daytime running lights and leather trim.

The NissanConnect infotainment system is fitted to the centre console with a seven-inch touchscreen, DAB radio and an integrated satellite navigation system.

Cloth seats, electric front windows, DAB radio and steel wheels will be the highlights on entry-level cars.

A survey of more than 1200 people revealed that connectivity and entertainment options in the car such as sat-nav, bluetooth, live traffic updates and digital radio are the features that new car buyers are most looking for.

Towercom, Inc. has begun test broadcasting on DAB+ via a transmitter in Košice. Zsolt Nagy, Technical Director Towercom, Inc. said "today's test transmissions of T-DAB+ are now available in the two largest towns in Slovakia and it is expected that they could be extended even this year to the to the Banská Bystrica region.”

This phone is the first on the market to offer users the chance to listen to radio via DAB. One of the main advantages of listening via DAB is that it does not use up large quantities of mobile data, compared to streaming music.

DAB+ will offer a way to balance Austria’s radio market, where public broadcaster ORF currently has 70% market share, by giving all players equal access to national network coverage. Wolfgang Struber, MD of Radio Arabella, said “It is worth noting that for ORF to broadcast a programme with 85% coverage via DAB+ it would cost approximately €150,000 a year. For a commercial radio station to achieve 95% coverage on FM the cost would be about €3.5m”. He recommended the inclusion of DAB+ (alongside FM) in all devices in the home and in-car, and that digital switch over could be considered once there is sufficient DAB+ receiver penetration.

The look is very much of the mid-20th century and in a retro setting it should fit right in. Of course, the inner workings are pure modern era, DAB radio reception, 20 station presets, a 3.5mm auxiliary input for playback of external audio devices and mains or battery power.
