The public broadcaster RTBF in Belgium has ordered a complete solution for its upcoming DAB roll out. It’s a major contract containing 16 Multiplexers, 192 audio encoders, data handling and management systems, all in full redundancy. Paneda and its local partner Heynen will handle installation and support. The contract also contains a support contact with 24-7 support from Paneda.

Since the launch of the campaign 'Let's get digital' in the summer of 2014, the awareness of DAB+ has increased to 59 percent according to Digital Radio NL. The Netherlands is on track with its plan to achieve the fastest rollout of DAB+ in Europe.

The Netherlands is on track when it comes to the roll out of DAB+ according to the latest research by Digital Radio NL. New data show that since the start of the campaign "Let's get digital 'in May 2014, the awareness of digital radio has increased to 59%. The number of DAB+ radios sold in 2016 increased by 33% compared to 2015.

SmartDAB is an intelligent in-car digital radio solution for the modern smartphone user which upgrades an existing FM radio system to receive DAB and DAB+ services. With an audio adapter hidden behind the dashboard, the SmartDAB is remotely controlled through a bespoke app and outputs audio through the vehicle’s original stereo speakers.

BBC World Service has been added to the DAB+ offering in The Netherlands. BBC World Service is now available via DAB+ in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht.

Titled "DAB+ expansion in Asia Pacific", the WorldDAB workshop will cover the latest developments in DAB+ digital radio, an introduction to hybrid radio, the business case for implementing DAB+ and the benefits of DAB+ in smartphones. This year, for the first time there will be a DAB+ pavilion featuring supply chain companies with a footprint in Asia Pacific - Connects2, Factum Radioscape, GatesAir, IZT, Paneda and RadioDNS.

Speakers include Joan Warner as well as Lindsay Cornell from the BBC, Les Sabel and Bernie O'Neill from WorldDAB, Nick Piggott from RadioDNS, and Jørn Jensen from NRK in Norway, the first country to switch off FM.
