Ofcom opens bidding for second national DAB digital radio network

BBC Ups Digital Coverage in North

Now 94.4% of the British population can receive digital radio signals via the 19 million digital radios currently used in the United Kingdom, according to the BBC. The transmitters are located in Whitworth Valley, Slapton in Devon, Swanage, Sudbury, Todmorden in West Yorkshire, Hay-on-Wye and the market town of Dolgellau in North West Wales, bringing the total to 253.

German-speaking Switzerland: Radio Basilisk and Radio 32 now on DAB+

A number of broad-range DAB+ platforms have been established in the Berne-Fribourg, northern Switzerland and eastern Switzerland regions since the end of 2012. Two more private radio stations were thus able to commence operations in early July: Radio Basilisk and Radio 32. This means that over half of all VHF programmes can now be heard via DAB+.
