DAB+ increasingly popular in French-speaking Belgium

DAB+ digital radio has experienced significant success in the French-speaking part of Belgium since its official launch in November 2019. According to maRadio.be, two thirds of listeners are now familiar with DAB+, while the number of listeners equipped with DAB+ receivers more than doubled in one year. What’s more, over a quarter of the people surveyed highlighted plans to purchase a DAB+ receiver at home or in the car, and 93% of respondents claimed to be satisfied with their experience with DAB+.

New record for digital radio listening in the UK

Digital listening in the UK has increased by 11% to a new record of 58.5%, up from 52.6% in Q4 2018 in the latest figures for Q4 2019. Listening via DAB grew by 16.1 million hours (or by 4%) year on year to now account for 41% of all listening and 70% of digital listening.

Seventh DAB multiplex on air in Spain

Digital transmissions on DAB waveband, channel 9C, started in Tenerife in December 2019. The transmitter is located on the Teide, the highest active volcano in the Atlantic ocean and also the highest mountain in Spain (3.718 m). In total there are nine programmes transmitted on the multiplex.
