Sales of digital radios continue to increase. Official datareleased for Q3 2012 show sales of 94,655, accordingto the GfK Marketscope report, bringing the total number ofDAB+ digital radios sold since August 2009 to 1,002,966. In vehicles, Toyota, Lexus and Hino include DAB+ as standardin a range of vehicle models. BMW, Audi, Land Rover andMercedes have DAB+ as an option. Many mobile phonesinclude FM radio and radio stations have created apps toenable listeners to listen to AM, FM and DAB+ stations viastreaming. CRA is working to ensure that, just as for FM, aDAB+ chip will become standard in mobile phones to enablelisteners to access all stations via DAB+ free to air broadcast.

Premium audio brands in Australia Bose and Bang & Olufsenboth now offer DAB+ options. There are now more than 140DAB+ devices available. The latest DAB+ radios includecolour touch screen, slideshow and interactivity via Wi-Ficonnection.CRA will continue to work with the receiver retailers andmanufacturers to promote the category on radio to stimulatesales in key retail periods.
