DAB+ continues to progress across Europe and now all seven of Radio France's radio stations are available on DAB+ in Paris.

In an article published this week in German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), the Parliamentary State Secretary, MdB, Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI), outlined the advantages of DAB and the reasons why it’s a non-disruptive way to improve radio in Germany. Ms Bär also tackled some criticisms of DAB+ and showed why it’s the right choice for radio in Germany. 

Digidia will be promoting its new DAB BI 2.0 Break-In system at IBC2016 in Amsterdam. The system features simultaneous management of up to four ensembles, SFN capability and synchronization with a GPS antenna signal as well as automatic following of dynamic multiplex reconfigurations of DAB ensembles.

Siegfried Schneider, chairman of the Directors' Conference of State Media Authorities (DLM), welcomes the initiative of the Rhineland-Palatinate Minister President Malu Dreyer, to require manufacturers of radios, to allow for all new appliances and the reception of DAB+.

The pilot project is supported by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) and aims to explore how DAB+ can provide regional radio services in Germany.

The portable digital radio Auna Chord comes in classic retro design and can be used anywhere thanks to the use of batteries. With DAB and DAB+ the Auna Chord is well equipped and is priced at 59.90 EUR.

The vehicle comes equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 17-inch alloy wheels, hints of leather inside and a full suite of DAB radio and Bluetooth connectivity.

The “mini-mux” in Portsmouth, England, has recently celebrated its first year of being on-air. The existing DAB multiplex covering the area is designed to cover a much larger footprint of 1.2m people, and has six transmission sites. The transmitter covering Portsmouth runs a power of 90kW ERP.

The 208 Active Design has a pleasing equipment specification including Bluetooth, 7” touchscreen interface, remote central locking and a digital radio.

World DAB President Patrick Hannon recently published a blog summarizing the status of DAB in many European countries. DAB has seen many milestones in recent years including Norway's plans for a digital switchover, DAB multiplex transmitters in Germany reaching 110 and 45% of radio listening happening via a digital device in the UK.
