FM broadcasting may end in Switzerland by 2021

KRRiT to announce DAB+ multiplexes in up to 34 Polish cities

Representatives of Polish radio stations discussed the potential transition to broadcasting in DAB+ during a conference held on Monday to discuss the country's radio future, with 47 frequencies to be distributed to 34 cities. KRRiT chairman Witold Kołodziejski said that the organisation was considering DAB+ as the sole successor to FM in Poland, as analogue frequencies were now exhausted.

The National Broadcasting Council of Slovenia (SRDF) has decided to switch to DAB+ in Ljubljana, with most FM broadcasting to cease from February 2022. In Cork, Ireland, a new small-scale digital radio multiplex is about to begin a 12-month trial period with a capacity to receive 20 programmes. In the UK, Sound Digital's commercial DAB multiplex coverage area will reach an additional four million people following a new agreement with Arqiva. In Lille, DAB+ broadcasts will begin on 19 June.
