Speaking about the German radio landscape, Oliver Dunk, CEO of Radio B2 - which now has five DAB+ stations on air in Germany - touched on the various benefits associated with the growth of DAB+, highlighting Radio B2's ongoing commitment to DAB+ digital radio.

The German public broadcaster's radio stations - which did not benefit from great coverage in Eastern Germany on FM - are now available to the majority of DAB+ listeners in the region, with 97% and 99% coverage in the states of Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt respectively.

Pointing to broadcast radio as a solution that will help alleviate some of the pressure on telecoms operators, Towercast's Raphaël Eyraud said the planned launches of DAB+ services in parts of southwestern France, as well as the launch of national DAB+ services are still on track to be completed this year, although the impact of the pandemic on the timing of these launches may need to be reassessed.
