Polish Radio Facebook 5000 competition: win prizes!

While some smartphones today offer the possibility to listen to the radio via mobile, Australian commercial radio stations are now trying to encourage mobile phone companies to install DAB+ digital chips. In exchange for the eventual integration of this chip, Commercial Radio Australia Ltd have agreed to engage on all commercial stations, an advertising campaign several million dollars to promote digital radio on the Samsung Galaxy.

South African Broadcasters Ready to Test DAB+

A DAB+ test is scheduled for Johannesburg and Pretoria, South Africa, according to WorldDMB News. After coverage verification tests, the two transmitters will operate as a single frequency network in VHF band III, on channel 13F at 239.2MHz.

FM radio is listed as number one by techradar in their list of 10 products destined for the scrapheap. According to their predictions FM will soon be the preserve of angry talk radio phone-ins and ultra-local Fab FM stations: in 2013 more people in the UK listened to DAB stations than analogue ones. The digital radio switchover still doesn't have a date but coverage is improving, car and van firms are fitting DAB radios as standard and the cost of standalone DAB radios has plummeted. That's great news for anyone who likes FM but wishes it sounded worse and was harder to receive.
