Polish Radio makes DAB+ frequency available to Ukrainian Radio
04.03.2022 - Poland - UkrainePolish Radio has temporarily launched the real-time transmission of the Ukrainian Radio signal - through its digital transmitters in DAB+ technology. Thanks to this, Ukrainians staying in Poland will be able to listen to their public radio broadcasts also in Poland.

Germany: annual sales of DAB+ radios exceed 2 million for first time
03.03.2022 - GermanyMore and more buyers are opting for a new DAB+ digital radio. In its "Home Electronics Market Index" HEMIX, which is traditionally published in March, the GFU reports sales of 2.1 million receivers for the past year. In March 2021, the HEMIX reported 1.8 million DAB+ radios sold. Against the background of a 16 percent decline in the market for FM devices in 2021, the development in the digital radio segment is all the more remarkable.

'Have fun at work' DAB+ radio giveaways
02.03.2022 - GermanyGerman broadcaster NDR1 has launched a DAB+ radio giveaway campaign, targeting radio listeners at work. Popular radio personality Schorse is on tour and will personally deliver a DAB radio every day from 7-25 March. To participate listeners simply need to fill out a form saying why they need a new DAB+ radio at work. The DAB+ receivers have been donated by receiver manufacturer Technisat.

ByteFM now on air in Berlin on DAB+
02.03.2022 - GermanyAward winning radio station ByteFM is now on air for the first time via DAB+ in Berlin. With this renewed expansion the station hopes to reach a larger audience. Said ByteFM founder and CEO Ruben Jonas Schnell: "Broadcasting terrestrially via DAB+ in the capital is a giant step for ByteFM. Now we are bringing our music and culture programme to the place where it needs to be heard: in Berlin."

DAB+ is important to us because it is an extension of our FM transmission range. Looking to the future, we would like Radio TRL to remain on DAB+ provincial radio with good coverage, both indoors and outdoors for East Flanders. Germany's party music channel Radio Bollerwagen expands with DAB+
02.03.2022 - GermanyRadio Bollerwagen, the successful party station of the ffn-mediengruppe from Hanover, can be heard on DAB+ in NRW and since February 15 also in the new DAB+ multiplex in Hessen-Süd. Another DAB+ frequency is to follow in Hamburg in the first half of 2022. Said Mathias Bartels, Head of Content at Radio Bollerwagen: “We see great national potential in the brand."

DAB+ in Saxony: 37 new DAB+ programmes
02.03.2022 - GermanyThe Media Council for the Saxon State Authority for Private Broadcasting and New Media (SLM) has decided to issue DAB+ licenses for digital transmission capacities of the state-wide, regional and local DAB+ coverages for the supply of the Free State of Saxony. 33 commercial and 4 non-commercial radio broadcasters applied for the tender initiated by the SLM. The large number of programmes ensures economical operation, and an attractive variety of DAB+ radio stations for listeners.

Can FM and DAB+ co-exist?
28.02.2022 - FranceIn recent years, FM has been getting closer to its limits and in several regions of France, FM is saturated, meaning new radio stations cannot develop, and limiting the choice for listeners. In addition, many radio stations cannot be received in more remote locations. In response Arcom (the Regulatory Authority for Audiovisual and Digital Communication), issued licences for 25 national radio stations on the motorway axis of Paris-Lyon-Marseille, with the stations launched on 12 October 2021. Coordinating the entire radio ecosystem and informing listeners about DAB+ remain challenging, with progress too fast for some, and too slow for others.

DAB+ standard in 94 percent of new cars in Germany
27.02.2022 - GermanySince December 21, 2020, radios in new cars must be able to receive and play digital terrestrial radio, i.e. DAB+. There are now Europe-wide figures for the implementation of this requirement. In Germany, around 300 different regional and national programs are currently available via DAB+. The coverage of the entire network reaches 98 percent of the area nationwide, with the motorways being almost fully covered.
