On 29th March 2018, the National Council announced the results of the competition for digital radio broadcasting in Kyiv. 9 radio stations are to broadcast in DAB+ format, with three of those being dedicated to public broadcasting. More information.
In July 2018, the National Council announced the results of another competition for digital radio broadcasting in Kyiv. Four additional radio stations are to broadcast in the DAB+ format. As of today, 14 DAB+ services are on air. More information

The stations are available on frequency block 11D.
14 companies were winners of the competition for the DAB+ broadcasting licenses. 13 of the stations on the multiplex are simulcasts of FM stations and 1 is exclusive to DAB+.
The first stations began transmissions in June 2018.
The transmissions are being implemented by the Broadcasting, Radiocommunications and Television Concern (BRT), which is also the telecommunications operator.

Business Radio resumes DAB+

On 31 August, Business Radio resumed broadcasting in DAB+ multiplex 11D in Kyiv. The radio station's digital broadcasting had been absent in this multiplex since April 2020. Business Radio is a Kyiv-based entertainment and music station that, in addition to digital broadcasting, also broadcasts in analogue at 93.8 MHz in Kyiv. It is a part of the Business Radio Group.

DJ FM and POWER FM have joined the Kyiv DAB+ multiplex, which already brings together a number of popular radio stations. According to the industry community Telecom Circle, the new participants have joined the digital multiplex on channel 11D, marking the next stage in the development of digital radio broadcasting in Ukraine. The following radio stations are currently available in the Kyiv DAB+ multiplex: ARMY FM, DJ FM, POWER FM, PRIYAMIY FM, Prosto Radio, PROSTO MARIA, UA:RADIO PROMIN, UA:RADIO KULTURE and UKRAINSKE RADIO. The expansion of the digital broadcasting network is an important step in the development of the Ukrainian radio space, which helps to improve the quality of broadcasting and expand the audience.

National Council announces tender for DAB+ in Kyiv

The National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting will hold a tender for digital radio broadcasting in the T-DAB multichannel electronic communication network in Kyiv. The regulator made this decision at a meeting on 28 December.
It concerns the 4th and 5th programmes in the 11D frequency block.

The National Council of TV and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine, at its meeting on 20 December 2019, determined the winners of the competition for 2 digital radio broadcasting programmes in the T-DAB standard in Kyiv. They were Prosto Radio station and Radio Miami station.
Two programmes were put up for competition; the volume of broadcasting is 24 hours per day. The broadcast will be made in the 11D frequency block (222.064 MHz frequency).
Requirements to the programme concept prohibit retransmission of programmes of other broadcasters. Broadcasting licenses will be valid for a period of 7 years.

Based on the conclusions concerning electro magnetic compatibility and information submitted by the operator of the local DAB+ multiplex – the Broadcasting, Radiocommunications & Television Concern (BRT Concern) – in its letter dated of 11 October 2019, the National Council being guided by Article 25 of the Law of Ukraine “On Television and Radio Broadcasting” decided to amend the annex to the Decision of the National Council No. 1308 of 05 September 2019 “On announcing the competition for obtaining the license for radio broadcasting in the terrestrial digital multichannel network (T-DAB standard) with the use of radio frequency resource” with regard to “frequency block (frequency, MHz)” by changing nominal value of 7D (194,064) to 11D (222,064).
The channel 11D (222,064) has been calculated in accordance with the Frequency Assignment Plan GENEVA 2006 (GE06) in order to substitute the temporarily assigned (until analogue TV switch-off) frequency block 7D (194,064 MHz).

During its meeting on September 5, the National Council decided to announce a competition and approved the competition conditions for 2 digital radio broadcasting programmes in the T-DAB standard in Kyiv. There are 2 programmes for the competition, the volume of broadcasting is 24 hours per day for each.
Due to the experiment introduced by the regulator on the development of digital radio broadcasting in Ukraine, 14 programmes are currently operating in a digital multiplex in Kyiv. However, due to lack of possibilities, two radio stations decided not to support this experiment. These two programmes are currently being offered for competition. In accordance with the requirements of the programme concept, retransmission of programmes of other broadcasters is prohibited. The competition guarantee is set at 10% of the maximum license fee.

Representatives of the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine (NRADA) attended the recent IFA Berlin event to discuss best practice and experience of introducing and implementing DAB+ digital radio. The council's executive secretary Oleksandr Iliashenko and member Serhii Kostynskyi had a meeting with WorldDAB to discuss the the impending DAB+ service launch in Kyiv, with 14 stations confirmed to broadcast digital radio.
