Poland Plans Digital Switchover

Poland's National Broadcasting Council has confirmed the decision to switch from analog to digital radio. In October 2013, Polskie Radio launched a multiplex, which covers Polish Radio's External Service and broadcasts in the Warsaw and Katowice areas.

Great interest in DAB+ licenses in Baden-Württemberg

The state media authority for Baden-Württemberg has received broad interest for three more regional commercial channels in DAB+. The positive signals also highlights a recent survey on digital radio: 57 percent of people working in the radio business in the region see an equal or even better acceptance among listeners and advertisers future for DAB+ compared to internet radio.

Dutch Public Broadcaster NPO Expands DAB+ Footprint

Dutch public broadcaster NPO is making great progress in providing nationwide coverage via DAB+. Two weeks ago, KPN Broadcast Services (transmitter operator for the DAB+ network) turned on transmitters at Leeuwarden and Venlo, thus providing coverage in the Friesland and northern Limburg areas.

Digital radio offers Samsung multi-million dollar deal

The commercial radio industry is trying to lure mobile phone companies to install digital DAB+ receiver chips in their phones with multi-million dollar deals. Speaking at the Tamworth Country Music Festival’s Country Music Radio Seminar this morning, Commercial Radio Australia CEO Joan Warner said that they were in negotiations with Samsung to have a digital radio chip installed in a new version of their flagship Galaxy phone.

Positive perspectives for digital radio in South Tiro

The public radio and television agency for the autonomous Province of Bozen RAS has switched on 4 new DAB-transmitters and radiostations in South Tirol. In the main area Bozen 52 programs are now on air – in the south even more than 70. There are plans to develop 10 new sites during 2014.

WorldDMB Among Presenters at Salon de la Radio in Paris

"Towards a successful launch of DAB in Europe" is the title of a seminar that will be held during the event. It's scheduled for Feb. 10, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Centre Etoile Saint-Honoré. This session will provide an opportunity to discuss the latest developments in digital radio in Europe. Among the speakers for the event will be Patrick Hannon, president of WorldDMB; Quétel Mathieu, vice president of SIRTI; and Jacqueline Bierhorst, responsible for the implementation of the DAB+ in the Netherlands.
