5.4 million DAB+ radios sold

In 2020, just under 600,000 DAB+ radios (including car radios) were sold.

According to the six-monthly surveys of electronics stores conducted by the market research institute GfK, a total of 5.4 million DAB+ devices have been sold since 2000. This indicates coverage of about one and a half devices per household.

There is also a clear upward trend in DAB+ equipment in vehicles: 99 percent of all new cars are now equipped with a DAB+ radio as standard.

Digital radio usage now 68%, with DAB+ the most widely used radio reception method

At the end of 2019, use  of digital radio by Swiss citizens averaged 64 minutes per 100 radio minutes per day. Of this figure, 37% was accounted for by DAB+, making it the most widely used radio reception method.

Over 600,000 DAB+ radios sold in 2019

In 2019, nearly 300,000 DAB+ radios were sold, plus around 315,000 new cars equipped with DAB+ radio.

Digital radio usage now 64%

At the end of 2018, use  of digital radio by Swiss citizens averaged 64 minutes per 100 radio minutes per day. Of this figure, 33% was accounted for by DAB+.

Just under 600,000 DAB+ radios sold in 2018

In 2017 almost 600,000 DAB+ radios were sold. 91% of all new vehicles sold are now fitted as standard with a DAB+ radio. According to studies available to OFCOM, a total of 4.2 million devices are in circulation.

According to the six-monthly surveys conducted by the GfK research institute among almost all electronics dealers, a total of 286,200 DAB+ radios were sold in 2018. In addition, according to an analysis conducted on behalf of OFCOM some 303,000 vehicles sold in 2018 had a DAB+ device already fitted or had one retrofitted. The number of vehicles equipped as standard with DAB+ radios has increased sharply: at the end of 2016 the figure was 66%, followed by 85% at the end of 2017 and 91% at the end of 2018.
