The standard for digital radio receivers in Italy was developed by the Associazione per la Radiofonia Digitale in Italia (ARD), added to the characteristics of the WorldDMB receiver profile specification, FM with RDS, Band III the L-Band. However, recently the L Band has been sold to the Telcos, therefore it is no longer mandatory. The UK's 'Digital Tick Mark' Profile 1 is accepted as a basis for receiver manufacturers in Italy.
