Ownership of a DAB digital radio also increased to 55.7% of the population, with 30 million adults now owning a DAB radio – that’s an increase of 14% year on year. There’s no doubt that digital listening is still growing. This is likely to fuel the investment by commercial radio groups in developing more diverse and highly targeted stations, such as Share Radio, Fun Kids and Panjab Radio.

Infotainment systems are also to be updated in the new model with new app smartphone integration, plus Bluetooth connectivity and digital radio.

R-line is essentially two ranges of multi-room speakers. The R-Series is all retro style and vintage design, and includes the R100 base station – featuring FM, DAB, DAB+ and Internet Radio – and the R1 wireless stereo multi-room speaker.

The association of local TV and radio broadcasters in Italy, Aeranti-Corallo has announced the establishment of a new consortium of local stations designed to encourage the development of digital radio in Sardinia. The stations cover the provinces of Cagliari, Nuoro, Ogliastra and Carbonia-Iglesias.

The Federal Council will implement the revised Law on Radio and Television (LRT). Radio broadcasters will be encouraged to accelerate the transition from analogue (VHF) to DAB+ digital radio, of all their programs. 

The first pilot year of DAB+ in Greater Vienna has been very successful. In the second pilot year, 16 new stations will be launched offering listeners an even greater variety of programmes.

It has been a year since Austria launched 15 DAB+ radio stations in the greater Vienna area, reaching about 2.5 million. Cheese and Crackers are heading for Manchester in the form of two brand new DAB digital radio services for the city. Niocast Digital, operator of the trial multiplex in Manchester, has signed up the stations along with Sunrise Radio to start broadcasting on its minimux in the next couple of weeks.

Bauer has reported 55 percent of its total listening takes place via a digital device, as compared to the industry average of 44 percent. Bauer has seen a 12 percent increase year over year in its digital listeners—now at 11.3 million. Bauer Radio reaches 17.5 million listeners in total, a four percent increase year over year.
