European Radio Forum in Krakow - the technological future of radio

Public media broadcasters from all over Europe, representatives from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), WorldDAB and representatives from the automotive industry, gathered in Poland for the European Radio Forum. The conference was devoted to the technological future of radio. Among the speakers were: Helen Boaden - Director of BBC Radio, Willi Steul - CEO Deutschlandradio, Miklos Vaszily - Director General of the Hungarian public television and radio MTVA, Rene Zavoral - Director General of Czech Radio and Graham Dixon - Director of Radio at the EBU.

LVRTC schedules DAB+ trial in Latvia

VRTC, Latvia’s state-run transmission provider, has announced a winner to its tender for a DAB+ trial multiplex in Latvia, selecting A-T Trade Music. Latvian Radio and LVRTC expect the DAB+ equipment and trial multiplex to go on the air sometime in November with 18 DAB+ stations.

Radio reigns supreme in battle for ears

The first major study of audio consumption in Australia has found that the entry of Pandora, Spotify and Apple Music have failed to make a dent on Australian radio’s dominance in the audio space. The study revealed Australian radio (AM, FM and DAB+) has five times the daily reach of the combined streaming services (69.7% compared to 12.4%).

Radio Unites: launches streaming app
