DAB radio in cars on the rise across Europe

Figures released today show that DAB adoption in the car is growing in key markets across Europe – with over 1.7 million new cars sold with DAB in the first half of 2016 (compared to 2.7 million for the whole of 2015). Across eight countries surveyed, 31% of new cars now come with DAB as standard – with all eight markets showing an increase in adoption rates compared to 2015.

DAB radio transmitter launched in Aldershot

The small-scale DAB trial for Aldershot has added a second transmitter to its service to expand the coverage area.The service is provided by BFBS, which has been offering a number of radio stations from a transmitter site in Woking but now has added a transmitter based in Aldershot too. The Ofcom trials of these SSDAB services are due to run until summer of 2018.

Norway: DAB+ testing on the water

Early next year, Norway becomes the first country to start switching off FM transmissions in favor of terrestrial digital broadcasting via DAB+. Throughout the Norwegian summer, three NRK engineers packed a variety of radio monitoring equipment, and a few portable DAB+ sets, and took to the waves.
