According to a new report from WorldDAB, by the end of the second quarter of 2017, almost 60 million DAB receivers had been sold, compared to 48 million the previous year.

The vehicle has a generous standard equipment roster which includes a DAB radio, Bluetooth connectivity, USB audio connection and sat-nav.

The Swiss authorities made the decision on 25 October to facilitate a transition to DAB +, according to a press release from the Swiss authorities. The decision confirms the plan for a Swiss FM shutdown between 2020-2024.

In October 2017, WorldDAB released the latest sales volumes of DAB receivers and network coverage from major markets in Europe and Asia-Pacific. Nearly 60 million domestic and automotive receivers were sold in Europe and Asia-Pacific, against 48 million a year earlier. In France, over a million DAB+ receivers were sold, compared to 292,000 last year.

Radioplayer's switching algorithm will instantly switch to IP if the DAB+ signal is unavailable. While connected to IP, it will monitor the available DAB+ signal.

The public broadcaster announced that it would increase its investment in DAB+ digital radio technology but also in services to improve FM reception.

The Swiss Federal Council adopted an amendment to the Radio and TV Ordinance, with the objective to facilitate the transition in radio broadcasting from VHF to DAB+.

Facilities include internet radio, Spotify, UPnP, DLNA and DAB+. The integrated CD player plays both audio CDs and MP3 files. In addition, MP3 files can be played from an external USB storage device via the USB interface.

Content Controller Pete Brettle said: “Until now we have only been on the internet but now we are going to be broadcasting on digital DAB radio. I think the station is going to jump from strength to strength. We are going to get more listeners, we are going to get more involvement from the community.”

With its 3.5mm mini-jack auxiliary input, in addition to its DAB+, FM tuner and Bluetooth speaker functions , the Pure Evoke H6 can even stream content from an external sound source.
