Majority of UK Radio Listening Is Now Digital, RAJAR Data Shows

DAB+ test broadcasts take place in Lille

In the region around the French city of Lille, the first test broadcasts with DAB + have been broadcast since this week. The broadcasts will officially start on 19 June. This is part of the French government's digitisation plan to ensure all major urban regions and motorways have DAB+ coverage by 2020.

The British radio industry has hailed a major event: digital listening has, for the first time, according to RAJAR, a new record share of 50.9%, against 47.2%, a year ago. Continued growth from the 47.2% recorded in the first quarter of 2017 and the 24% of the first quarter of 2010, when the government's Digital Radio Action Plan, which spearheaded a program to advance digital radio, was launched.
