ANCOM launches consultation draft on granting licenses for digital radio frequencies

ANCOM has published in consultation the Draft Government Decision on the granting of licenses for the use of DAB+ radio frequencies in Romania. The competitive selection procedure requires each bidder to submit an initial bid indicating the multiplexes they wish to acquire. If demand exceeds the number of multiplexes available, primary rounds of bidding will be organised until the demand no longer exceeds the offer.

ANCOM launches licence fees for digital terrestrial digital broadcast multiplex in Romania

The National Authority for Administration and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM) has announced it has published the Draft Government Decision on granting licences for the operation of radio frequencies for DAB+ broadcasting in Romania. The minimum licence fee for national multiplexes is 75,000 euros. "If regional multiplexes are allocated, the minimum license fee varies according to the area it is allocated to, ranging from 1,050 to 5,500 euros for a multiplex allocated in Bucharest," ANCOM's press release stated.

Research shows in-car voice control for radio is safer

Adding voice control to a car radio makes it easier to use, and safer to operate while driving, according to new research. Tests were conducted by Digital Radio UK and Radioplayer which show on average, drivers glanced away from the road twice to find a new station using voice control, compared to thirteen times when using a touchscreen radio alone, during a 30-minute on-road test.

LMK plans entry of private DAB+ supply in Rhineland-Palatinate - Round Table

The State Center for Media and Communications Rhineland-Palatinate (LMK) and the State Chancellery Rhineland-Palatinate intend to conduct a round table discussion at the end of October 2018 to design the future DAB+ supply in the country. According to the LMK, the entry of a private DAB+ supply in Rhineland-Palatinate could significantly increase the attractiveness of Digital Broadcasting via DAB + from 2020 with a new variety of programmes.
