Major commercial stations start broadcasting in DAB+ in Berlin
05.02.2018 - GermanyThe range of commercial radio stations via DAB+ in Berlin and the surrounding federal state of Brandenburg will be expanded considerably. In total, the regional media council MABB gave 23 licenses to radio stations to broadcast via DAB+ in Berlin and its surroundings.

DAB+ in Europe: "Every radio sold in the EU should guarantee digital reception"
05.02.2018 - GermanyThe European Broadcast Union (EBU), the European Digital Radio Alliance (EDRA) and WorldDAB issued a joint statement on interoperability of digital radio on Monday, 5 February. The three parties are working to ensure that all future radio models sold in the EU have an interface to DAB+. A corresponding directive is to be enshrined in a single Code for Broadcasting in the European Union (European Electronic Communications Code).

Bayerischer Rundfunk plans DAB+ expansion in 2018
05.02.2018 - GermanyBayerischer Rundfunk announced on Monday that its number of DAB+ transmitter networks will be expanded in 2018, with the body planning up to 32 new connections this year. The availability of DAB+ with all ten BR stations and regional stations are expected toimprove again in all regions as a result of the planned measures.

The second half of the workshop will feature three breakout sessions, during which participants can discuss key aspects of digital radio. Topics covered will include ASEAN Regulation and Policy, Planning for Rollout, Hybrid Infrastructure and Implementing Hybrid Workflows. The key discussion points and findings from each group will be published and shared with all participants.

EBU calls for DAB+ on all radios
05.02.2018 - HungaryThe European Broadcasting Union has issued a statement jointly with the European Digital Radio Association and WorldDAB, asking European decision-makers to complement the Electronic Communications Code to promote the compatibility of radio equipment with digital broadcasting modes. The three organisations recommend that all receivers sold on the European Union have FM and DAB receivables, and if this is not possible, at least the manufacturers of car headphones are obliged to do so.

Nearly 40 percent of new cars equipped with digital radio
