Four companies in the race for digital radio bidding

On 28 March 2017, a conference was held in Vienna, Austria bringing together potential multiplex operators and broadcasters for the new nationwide DAB+ multiplex. The four potential multiplex operators presented their concepts at the event, hosted jointly by Digital Radio Austria and the Association of Commercial Radios (VÖP). There is currently an open tender for applicants to manage one nationwide DAB+ multiplex, and if required additional regional/local DAB+ multiplexes, which will close on 12 June 2017.

DAB radio coverage improved and celebrated

The launch of 435 new national and local DAB transmitters was celebrated today during the Digital Radio Stakeholders' Event at the headquarters of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders in London. Senior representatives from four of the key stakeholders involved in the expansion of DAB coverage – Robin Holmes, BBC; Grae Allan, Bauer; Glyn Jones, Arqiva and Ian O’Neill of DCMS – pressed the big green digital radio switch to mark the progress made.

Symposium on the experimentation of DAB+ in Vietnam

(VOVworld) - National radio Voice of Vietnam (VOV) organised a symposium on the experimentation of DAB+ digital radio broadcasting in Hanoi on Tuesday morning. Since 2006, WorldDAB has been implementing DAB+ standards with HE-AACv2. To date, 36 countries are applying these standards. Nguyên Xuân Huy, vice-president of the VOV said that VOV had deployed several plans to experiment with these new techniques. The VOV also shared its experience with its sisters of the world to find the most suitable solutions.
