The Austrian media authority KommAustria has extended the existing digital radio test period in Vienna and its surrounding area by another year. Fifteen radio programs have been broadcast for two years, within the scope of the test service.

The range starts with the SZ3, with DAB radio and bluetooth as standard, and goes on sale on June 1 2017.

Taking place the day after the WorldDAB Automotive event in Munich on 21 June, topics will include an introduction to TPEG technology, an outline of the TPEG specifications, theory and hands-on sessions on TPEG reception and service design (including real transmission and receiving).

Critics of the transition to digital radio in Norway are fading. A report from public broadcaster NRK to the Ministry of Culture in Norway shows that the transition to DAB+ in the first region has been completed without major problems. Progress on DAB+ continues in other European countries and beyond, in Asia Pacific.

That was the subject of the session hosted by Patrick Hannon, President of WorldDAB, at the EBU's Radio Summit in Geneva. Addressing the arguments for and against DAB for broadcasters, and concluding that many of them have already made the choice in favor of DAB digital radio.
