FM broadcasting may end in Switzerland by 2021
30.05.2018 - SwitzerlandAs digital listening is growing faster than anticipated, there is a possibility that FM may be switched off by 2021, which would be a change to the original plan of switch off in phases between 2020 and 2024. A decision on whether FM will be switched off by 2021 is expected to be made by in the autumn of 2019.

KRRiT to announce DAB+ multiplexes in up to 34 Polish cities
30.05.2018 - National Broadcasting Council of Poland (KRRiT) WorldDAB Member - PolandRepresentatives of Polish radio stations discussed the potential transition to broadcasting in DAB+ during a conference held on Monday to discuss the country's radio future, with 47 frequencies to be distributed to 34 cities. KRRiT chairman Witold Kołodziejski said that the organisation was considering DAB+ as the sole successor to FM in Poland, as analogue frequencies were now exhausted.

Digital radio updates From Slovenia, Ireland, UK and France
29.05.2018 - Arqiva WorldDAB Member - Slovenia - Ireland - United Kingdom - FranceThe National Broadcasting Council of Slovenia (SRDF) has decided to switch to DAB+ in Ljubljana, with most FM broadcasting to cease from February 2022. In Cork, Ireland, a new small-scale digital radio multiplex is about to begin a 12-month trial period with a capacity to receive 20 programmes. In the UK, Sound Digital's commercial DAB multiplex coverage area will reach an additional four million people following a new agreement with Arqiva. In Lille, DAB+ broadcasts will begin on 19 June.

DAB+ licence tender process opened for Romandy in Switzerland
29.05.2018 - SwitzerlandSwiss Federal Communications Commission (ComCom) has opened a tender for new DAB+ licences for digital radio broadcasting in the French-speaking part of the country, Romandy. The tender documents were published on the regulator's website on 28 May and applications can be submitted until 27 July. The award of licences is expected by the end of the year.
