Venice X, the first of these new solutions, will be launched at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair (April 13-16). By combining DAB/DAB+, internet and FM in a single device, Smart Radios provide end-users with a complete range of listening options – including a rapidly growing number of DAB/DAB+ services, Internet radio stations, online music services and podcasts from around the world. Smart Radios are the fastest growing category in the digital radio market, with sales volumes currently growing at 30 per cent per year.

The Ministry of Communications and Information will develop a frequency plan for the deployment of DAB+, with three multiplexes each with approximately 18 stations. The companies Giprosvjaz, Tract and Tract Media are taking an active role in launching and testing DAB+ digital radio in Minsk.

The list of applicants has been published on the CSA website. The CSA will now assess the applications based on their feasibility and contribution to the diversity of the radio landscape and will publish its decision by no later than 16 July 2019.

Following its launch on FM in North Sealand and Greater Copenhagen, from 15 April, NRJ will also be available nationally on DAB+ in Denmark.

Frontier Smart Technologies has launched Chorus 4 - the world’s first integrated Smart Radio chip. Panasonic Automotive, the global supplier of automotive infotainment and connectivity systems solutions, announced at the 2019 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show that its SPYDR 2.0 complete cockpit android-based domain controller will support DTS Connected Radio via a collaboration with Xperi.

Xperi Corporation and LG Electronics have announced the development and integration of DTS Connected Radio technology into automobiles sold around the world. The first implementation will arrive at dealerships in 2020 with a major global car brand, to be announced at a later date. Xperi will deliver to LG the DTS Connected Radio platform which enables an engaging in-car radio experience, combining over-the-air radio with IP delivered content.

Switchdigital (London) Limited, the operator of London’s largest digital radio multiplex (also known as London 2), is seeking applications from broadcasters interested in acquiring DAB or DAB+ capacity. The London 2 multiplex covers 5.3 million households across London and the South East of England.
