Bavarian public broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk is set to expand its network to 77 additional locations this year, with the expansion set to be completed by the end of the year.

The commercial radio station playing international music hits is now available to listeners on DAB+ across the country.

A single ABC/SBS DAB+ transmitter carries 18 programs. The commercial/ community DAB+ transmitters are carrying up to 32 programs each, makes it the cheapest and least polluting means of moving sound from a microphone to the listeners speaker.

ARD, Deutschlandradio, private broadcasters and other members of the Digitalradio Deutschland association have launched a joint DAB+ campaign across TV and radio. The new campaign, which will be on air for 14 days, celebrates the diversity offered by DAB+ radio.

The new station exclusively dedicated to sports has now launched on Germany's second national DAB+ multiplex.

As DAB+ continues to grow in Australia, the Australian Communications and Media Authority is offering vacant FM frequencies in western Australia. According to Commercial Radio Australia, 77% of all new vehicles in Australia already contain DAB+ receivers.

High level speakers from the broadcasting and automotive industries are coming together at WorldDAB Automotive 2021 on 23 June to discuss the future of radio in the car. These include Google’s Guru Nagarajan, Martin Koch from the Volkswagen Group, Commercial Radio Australia CEO Joan Warner as well Caroline Beasley, one of the most influential radio executives in US radio.

In 2020, 13% of French people had a DAB+ digital radio consumer receiver, while 12.8% of drivers whose cars include a radio have a DAB+ automotive receiver. France is also preparing the launch of national DAB+ services this summer.

Klassik Radio will now be available to listeners on DAB+ in Germany, Austria and Belgium. According to its CEO, DAB+ is a great opportunity for advertising partners to reach specific target groups across German-speaking markets.

As the current crop of new cars come on-stream, they feature ever increasing levels of connectivity with much of it built into the dashboard.
