Roberto Sergio: we are pushing the FM shutdown from 2025

Roberto Sergio, director of Rai Radio, spoke to Italia Oggi: "Both I and the top management of RDS believe that the time has come to push decisively on switching off the FM and strengthening the DAB. We are proposing the start of the shutdown of the plants starting from 2025, to arrive at a complete switch off to digital in 2030. If we give up the towers, the traditional systems, we will have crazy savings in the electricity bill, we will consume less energy, we will pollute less without all those towers."

Local DAB+ in Flanders: Flemish Brabant also gives the starting signal

In Brussels the first channel of the local DAB+ for Flemish Brabant went on the digital ether on Friday evening on block 10B. Eight local stations are carried. The second channel (Leuven) in the same ensemble will follow on Wednesday.

Digris AG from Switzerland approached Deutschlandradio with an offer to broadcast the three Deutschlandradio programs Deutschlandfunk, Deutschlandfunk Kultur and Deutschlandfunk in selected regions of German-speaking Switzerland via DAB+. After examining the offer, Deutschlandradio allowed digris AG to feed the programs into their regional DAB+ multiplexes. Since March 8th, these can be received in the regions of south-eastern Switzerland, Bernese Oberland and Upper Valais.
