The launch of DAB+ in the Netherlands is not as bad as suggested in some media. Research by Radio.NL shows that sales in the Netherlands is starting to show a picture similar to that of countries such as Switzerland, Australia and the United Kingdom where digital radio is established.

After the acquisition of the majority of Telefunken Autotainment, Calearo Group, an Italian company, announce that it will be the exclusive distributor of quality products including the TFA-ES7130 DAB car radio.

"If we do not adopt DAB/DAB+ in Europe, the probability that there will be radio in 20 years is low. Our future depends on it. This requires a common European standard, since a significant portion of radio listening happens on the move and in vehicle. We need to offer hybrid radio combining DAB/DAB+ and the internet, the latter mode being complementary."

Father Federico Lombardi, Director of Vatican Radio, commented that Vatican Radio covers a wide range of issues, with an emphasis on peace, religious freedom, human rights, dialogue between religions and Christian denominations." Eugenio La Teana, head of research and development at RTL 102.5 Hit Radio added: "DAB/DAB+ digital radio is progressing in Italy, as well as across Europe. There is now a clear path towards digitisation of radio at the European level".

DTG Testing, the UK's only accredited house testing against the Digital Radio Tick Mark specification, has successfully tested more than 100 different DAB products.

This year marked the fourth anniversary of the EBU RadioHack event, a set of workshops where developers, engineers and geeks can experiment with the newest tools and techniques in digital and hybrid radio.

Rajar figures show that digital consumption of radio has risen to 37.9 per cent of listening...Many in the commercial sector are pinning hopes on a continued rush to digital to lure advertisers with easily reachable, targeted audiences.

Yesterday’s Digital Radio Summit marked the 8th anniversary of such an event. With over a 110 participants from 25 difference countries as far as Australia and the United States, the event showed that the discussions around the future of digital radio are still top on the agenda of many organisations.
