With the commissioning of two additional DAB + transmitters, the Hessischer Rundfunk will expand its digital radio network on 8 August 2017. In the coming year, further steps are planned by the commissioning of new transmitters and supply improvements at existing locations.

More than 6 in 10 adults currently listen to radio via a digital platform, according to the latest Rajar results. In total, 33 million people now tune in to radio via a digitally enabled receiver - DAB, digital TV or online - each week. In an average week, digital listening accounts for 503 million hours; DAB has a 71% share of digital listening hours.

Digital listening across all platforms continues to grow, with the majority of digital listening remaining via DAB, which grew 6.1% in hours to account for 34.5% share of all radio listening or 71% of digital listening.
