This time last year, a report on digital radio uptake released by GfK revealed DAB+ digital radio reached 3.5m Australian listeners. A year later, the results prove digital radio is still growing.

If you are due to buy a new radio or have bought a new model of car with a digital radio - here are some of the reasons you should consider moving from AM/FM and switching to DAB+.

The EBU in collaboration with Radio Serbia and WorldDAB hosted a DAB seminar on digital radio on 8 June in Belgrade. The event, brought together representatives of Serbia - Government of the media sector, regulators and broadcasters. Also attended by EBU members from Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Hungary, FYROM, Slovenia, Montenegro and Bosnia & Herzegovina, demonstrating the interest throughout the region to advance the implementation of DAB.

DAB radio coverage continues to expand across Italy. After the 3 national multiplexes, that are already covering over 70% of the population, two consortiums have started broadcasting digital radio in the Tuscany region of Italy (the provinces of Florence, Pistoia, Prato, Arezzo and Siena).

Bauer has proved successful in taking advantage of the opportunities offered by digital radio, launching new services, and reaching out to a wider audience. Travis Baxter commented: "Pioneering work in some key European countries is providing a road map for other countries, demonstrating that it is possible to provide listeners with more choice and diversity within the radio sector, a medium that is hugely popular with listeners and which continues to reflect the culture of all the countries where is operates".

The Ambience spec includes DAB radio among its standard features.

Standard equipment on the sporty SRI VX-Line includes Vauxhall’s IntelliLink touchscreen infotainment system with DAB radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

With the amendment in the law, the Federal Government wants to boost the distribution of DAB digital radios. This now means that especially high-quality radios must either have a DAB+ chip installed or be able to receive internet radio.

On 1 June 2017, two years after the country began its DAB+ trial, the multiplex used by public broadcaster Czech Radio entered regular service, launching its four planned transmitters for a signal that reaches 40 percent of the population.
