DAB coverage expansion programme completed in UK
03.04.2018 - Arqiva WorldDAB Member - United KingdomThe launch of the two new transmitters completes the initiative to expand the UK’s local DAB transmission network towards FM equivalence, which was announced by the DCMS (Department for Culture, Media and Sport) in 2015 and jointly funded by the DCMS, BBC and local DAB multiplex operators. This has doubled the local DAB network, with new transmitters or modifications to 221 local DAB sites, boosting local DAB coverage from 72% to more than 90% of UK households.

The Dutch court has now made a clear statement: "Advertising is not misleading because the digitisation of radio air is taking place all over the world. 01.04.2018 - NetherlandsThe Dutch Advertising Regulatory Committee (RCC) has concluded that a promotion for DAB+ by Digital Radio NL in the Netherlands is not "fake advertising", retracting its previous decision to find the campaign misleading to consumers. "The digitization of airborne transmissions takes place all over the world. DAB + is the only practical successor of FM," the committee concluded.
