The last free spot in the digital radio multiplex of Kyiv was taken by the station Priamyi FM (Direct FM)
06.09.2018 - UkraineOn September 6, the National Council summed up the results of the competition for radio broadcasting in the digital terrestrial multichannel network of the T-DAB standard in Kyiv. The winner was the radio station Priamyi FM (Direct FM) - the LLC Direct TV Channel, Kyiv.
This company was the only bidder.
The signal will be disseminated by two transmitters with power of 2.0 kW and 1.0 kW. The territory of coverage is Kyiv. The volume of the programme broadcasting is 24 hours per day. The requirements for the programme concept prohibit retransmission of programmes of other broadcasters.
According to the Director General of the LLC Direct TV channel Mrs Eugenia Zakharova, it will be informational, interactive radio, but not talk radio. The basic format will be live streams from the spots. There will be no music or entertainment on the radio station. 16 hours per day will be devoted to information about events, which will be rerun at night.
The company is ready to start broadcasting in 2-3 months.
We would like to recall that the sixth programme in the multichannel digital radio network was put up for competition by the National Council repeatedly after the winner of the previous competition (held on 29 March 2018) - First Digital radio station - failed to pay the full amount of the license fee on time.

Polish broadcaster BCAST begins DAB+ testing in Warsaw
06.09.2018 - BCAST WorldDAB Member - PolandPolish broadcaster has recently obtained permission to launch an experimental broadcast of digital radio in Warsaw, with testing expected to last one year. The broadcast is conducted on channel 10A (center frequency 209.936 MHz), with two antennas expected to pick up signals from local FM and interest radio stations. BCAST expects further tests to follow in the cities of Gdańsk and Wrocław, and is interested in taking part in the National Council of Radio Broadcasting and Television's (KRRiT) tender of three national and 34 urban DAB+ multiplexes.

Research shows in-car voice control for radio is safer
06.09.2018 - United KingdomAdding voice control to a car radio makes it easier to use, and safer to operate while driving, according to new research out of the UK. Tests were conducted by Digital Radio UK and Radioplayer which show on average, drivers glanced away from the road twice to find a new station using voice control, compared to thirteen times when using a touchscreen radio alone, during a 30-minute on-road test.

Ultimately, on MUX there will be local local broadcasters, including Radio Kolor or Muzo.fm and broadcasters nationwide: Radio Maryja, Radiojazz.fm. A new study commissioned by the Bavarian Media Center (LMK) investigates the cost of DAB+ operation, forecasting projections, and also identifying where costs will arise. ANCOM launches consultation draft on granting licenses for digital radio frequencies
05.09.2018 - RomaniaANCOM has published in consultation the Draft Government Decision on the granting of licenses for the use of DAB+ radio frequencies in Romania. The competitive selection procedure requires each bidder to submit an initial bid indicating the multiplexes they wish to acquire. If demand exceeds the number of multiplexes available, primary rounds of bidding will be organised until the demand no longer exceeds the offer.
