RadioDNS project director Nick Piggott has detailed how digital radio transmission costs are decreasing, and how the benefits of hybrid radio is improving consumer choice and reducing distribution costs. Mr Piggott was addressing the delegates of Radio's New Wave at Broadcast Asia in Singapore last week.

On average, 2.7 million Norwegians listened to at least one of NRK's radio stations during a week in June. Looking at total broadcast listening the decline has been as we expected – and this is because people need time to replace all of their FM devices, especially in cars.

The European Broadcasting Union's latest annual report has announced that the total number of digital radio stations has grown 23.7% since last year. The figures come from the Market insights digital radio 2018 report.

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU)'s Market Insights Digital Radio 2018 published in February reported that the number of digital radio stations increased 23.7 percent (from 288 to 1,503 stations) in a single year, detailing the expansive progress of DAB+ across Europe.

The standard features column also includes ‘Audi connect’, including an in-car Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a Bose 3D Surround Sound System (19 speakers and a 15-channel 558 watt amp), DAB+ digital radio, and ‘MMI touch’ including nav through the 8.3-inch high-res touchscreen.

The Calais V range-topper features a BOSE audio system and Holden’s MyLink infotainment system which is driven via an 8.0-inch colour touchscreen or through voice recognition. It features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, DAB+ digital radio as well as Bluetooth streaming and satellite navigation.

Inside, the limited-run model adopts a similar two-tone theme and comes as standard with a 7-inch digital driver’s display and a touchscreen of the same size for the infotainment system equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Customers also get to enjoy DAB digital radio, TomTom navigation, and automatic AC.

In terms of connectivity, the Fiat 500 Spiaggina '58 offers the best of technology : it is in fact the Uconnect 7 "HD LIVE touchscreen with Apple CarPlay predisposition and Android Auto compatibility, as well as the Tom Tom navigator and DAB digital radio.

The interior of Ssangyong’s latest truck claims to be one of the most well-equipped and roomy in the class; DAB radio and Bluetooth connectivity is standard to all models while even the entry-level model gets an eight-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

As of July 3, the local radio stations across Lower Bavaria and the Upper Palatinate can be heard via DAB+ on new regional networks. More DAB muxes for the regional networks for Upper Palatinate and Lower Bavaria will commissioned this year.
