According to a recent GfK survey, between July 2017 and June 2018, more than 100,000 DAB+ receivers were sold in France. That's 26% more than the same period a year earlier. Globally, growth is 13% in the first half of 2018.

At a local radio workshop held in Dusseldorf last week, the SPD party of German state North-Rhine Westphalia (NRW) has called on the government to coordinate a meeting involving all stakeholders for radio in the state to promote the entry of DAB+ into the market. German broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) will begin operations from three new DAB+ transmitters from Friday 5 October, which will improve coverage in the district of Rege close to the Czech border.

The first inductees to the Digital Radio Hall of Fame were presented with their awards at the leading radio industry conference, Drive to Digital, this week. Xperi’s DTS Connected Radio service is joining up with the BBC to run a hybrid radio trial for 18 months. During the trial, the BBC will provide metadata and content directly into the DTS Connected Radio platform.

Czech Radio plans to open up band III to DAB+, enabling up to 800 regional stations to broadcast on digital radio for the first time. This was announced at the 2018 Media Reflection conference on Tuesday, where an indicative roadmap was published showing the broadcaster's intent to cover 75% of the Czech population with DAB+ services by the middle of 2019.

In the fall of 2018, Deutschlandradio will be the first public service broadcaster in Germany to switch completely to DAB+ in two existing FM broadcasting areas - Helgoland (from 28 September) and in the region Mittenwald / Krün / Wallgau in the upper Isar Valley (from 5 October).
