This year marked the fourth anniversary of the EBU RadioHack event, a set of workshops where developers, engineers and geeks can experiment with the newest tools and techniques in digital and hybrid radio.

President of the French Conseil supérieur de l'audiovisuel (CSA), Olivier Schrameck, discussed at length the future of terrestrial digital radio in France during his opening speech delivered just before the International Digital Radio session at French radio industry event "Salon de la Radio". Rajar figures show that digital consumption of radio has risen to 37.9 per cent of listening...Many in the commercial sector are pinning hopes on a continued rush to digital to lure advertisers with easily reachable, targeted audiences.

Yesterday’s Digital Radio Summit marked the 8th anniversary of such an event. With over a 110 participants from 25 difference countries as far as Australia and the United States, the event showed that the discussions around the future of digital radio are still top on the agenda of many organisations.

The Bradford & Huddersfield multiplex will be getting two extra services in the next few weeks – Panjab Radio and Asian Sound Radio.

This morning at 11:30, the WorldDMB will be holding a conference called " The development and the future of DAB in Europe . " The conference, to be held in the Auditorium Etoile Saint Honore Centre will be dedicated to digital radio with a proprietary platform of experts and professionals from all over Europe.

Sales of DAB radios grew by 30.5% in 2014 with 667 000 sold radios having DAB reception, according Elektronikkbransjen. In addition, it sold at least 50,000 DAB adapters for cars and an unknown number radio receivers that are not registered in industry association statistics.

Mari Hagerup, communications manager of Digital radio Norway disagrees with the description that Norway is an "outsider". The European Broadcasting Union EBU recommends a transition to digital radio and identifies DAB+ as a backbone in radio broadcasts... In Norway and Europe DAB better suited."

Awareness of DAB+ or Digital Radio+ is reasonably high; 23 percent say they know the term ‘DAB+’ and 29 percent were familiar with ‘Digtal Radio+’ in July.
