Digital Radio Seminar focuses on DAB advancement in the Balkans
08.06.2017 - - European Broadcasting Union (EBU) WorldDAB Member - SerbiaThe EBU has partnered with Radio Serbia and WorldDAB to host the annual Digital Radio Seminar in Belgrade on 8 June 2017. The event, held at the Radio House, brought together senior representatives from the Serbian media sector - government, regulators and broadcasters. Also present were EBU Members from Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Hungary, Macedonia, Slovenia, Montenegro and Bosnia & Herzegovina, demonstrating the interest across the broader area in moving forwards with the implementation of DAB.

Canberra gets green light for DAB+ digital radio
08.06.2017 - AustraliaThe trial of DAB+ digital radio in Canberra has been wound up, with the service now to become permanent. According to the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), the necessary regulatory arrangements for DAB+ have now been completed for all capital cities and the trials in Canberra and Darwin are no longer required.

ACMA plans to license DAB multiplexes across more of Australia
07.06.2017 - AustraliaThe Australian media regulator ACMA has finalised plans to roll out digital terrestrial radio in all major cities in the country. Commercial radio stations, the public broadcaster ABC and the multicultural broadcaster SBS started transmitting in DAB+ in 2009 in the five capital cities of Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide. The majority of the population lives in and around those five cities, meaning around 65% of the population of Australia is covered by DAB+ radio.

Media Broadcast and Absolut Radio to build second DAB+ platform
07.06.2017 - Media Broadcast GmbH WorldDAB Member - GermanyAntenne Deutschland has been announced as the new platform provider for the second nationwide DAB+ multiplex in Germany. Behind the consortium are Media Broadcast and Absolut Digital. The multiplex will more than double the range of digital radio channels broadcast nationwide.

Antenne Deutschland wins contract for second DAB+ multiplex

The open platform will be open to all broadcasters and aims to encourage the development of new radio formats and digital services.

This was decided by the committee of the chairmen of the media bodies today after intensive consultation and consultation of the three applicants in Berlin.
Winfried Engel, Chairman of the GVK: "With Antenne Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG, a player who is experienced as a program organizer and network operator will be awarded the contract, where we can expect it to start quickly.
