DAB+ frequencies have been allocated for a national deployment of DAB+ and the first licensing law for DAB+ stations was passed in January 2018. Following trial services which started in December 2017, on 18 January the Greek Telecom Authority (EETT) announced a tender for nationwide and local DAB+ services. The applications close on April 17 2018 and licences will be issued in May 2018.

The public-service broadcaster ERT has begun test DAB+ transmissions on Block 12C.
Seven services are being broadcast from mount Hymettus in the Athens area (Proto, Deytero, Trito, ERA Sport, Kosmos, Voice of Greece, ERA 7).
Due to test transmissions, different bitrates are being tested.

According to the Minister of Digital Policy:

a) A new bill will be passed in January 2018, through parliament, for digital radio licensing.

b) Greek Telecoms Authority (EETT) will license DAB+ network provider(s) by March 2018. ERT wants to be the main network provider (or part of it).

c) Greek Radio - TV Council (ESR) will license DAB+ radio stations, hopefully in 2018.

In September 2017 Greek Secretary General of Information and Communication, Lefteris Kretsos revealed in a debate on digital radio organised by 24 Media in Thessaloniki in the TIF that Greece has digital radio plans. The timetable proposes that in three months the digital frequency maps will be ready for Greece with licences given within 8 months.
