10% of new vehicles sold in Australia are sold with DAB+ as standard. The radio industry is working alongside the automotive industry to provide both technical support and marketing of DAB+ products within automotive brands. CRA has provided technical information to the automotive industry and aftermarket manufacturers, installers and retailers on areas such as antenna placement, road coverage map and hosting dedicated automotive workshops to bring this information to the manufacturers and suppliers. An advertising campaign and a five state simultaneous outside broadcast event by commercial and public broadcasters was held to celebrate the third year of DAB+ being on-air with a promotional competition to win Toyota models which have DAB+ as standard. Plans are underway for a five year anniversary digital radio promotion. Twenty four vehicle manufacturers in Australia now include DAB+ digital radio and over 153,000 vehicles with the technology have been sold**. Jeep is the latest manufacturer to add DAB+ as standard or an option in the Grand Cherokee and Cherokee models. Others include; Toyota, Lexus, Jaguar, Ford, Mini, Mercedes Benz, Hino, Audi, BMW, Infiniti, McLaren, Nissan, Aston Martin, Land Rover, Isuzu, Lamborghini, Bentley, Porsche, Ferrari and Fuso.
Aftermarket solutions for DAB+ are available starting from $119 from Alpine, JVC, Kenwood, Orion, Pioneer, Sony and Pure.
