39% of listening in Switzerland now takes place on DAB+, while 64% of all listening is done on digital platforms. Digital radio is also more popular than FM radio amongt Swiss drivers, claiming 55% of all listening.

Swiss advertising customers can now use “DAB Display Ad” to stream their message directly into the car. The Zurich digital agency TheIndustry and the Swiss DAB+ network operator Digris have developed the new advertising platform including a fully automated booking system. Three high-profile companies already run national campaigns - insurer Smile.direct, coffee manufacturer Lattesso and healthcare provider Seeklinik Brunnen.

According to the latest plan revealed by Swiss broadcasters at Swiss RadioDay the phase-off of FM services will take place in stages - starting with SRG switchoff of FM services in August 2022, which will then be followed by private radio stations in January 2023.

The campaign will include TV and radio spots, social media activities, billboard advertising, measures for equipment dealers and car dealerships, plus a helpdesk to advise the public

At the SwissRadioDay, the radio sector presented its planned phase-out of FM transmissions, which is to take place between August 2022 (SRG) and January 2023 (private stations). Digital listening in Switzerland now stands at 71%.

The advertisement appears on the display of the DAB+ radio, regardless of which station is running. The goal is to reach all drivers and their passengers. One million cars in Switzerland are currently equipped with the technology, with 300,000 more are added every year. A market with great potential.

A new state-wide multiplex is set to launch in Germany's most populated state of North Rhine-Westphalia in the west of the country. The multiplex should enable up to 15 private broadcasters to broadcast on DAB+ in the near future.

Parliamentary legislation will require new cars sold in the UK to be fitted with a DAB-compatible radio from 21 December 2020. The provision is found in The Road Vehicles (Approval) Regulations 2020, which take effect from 1 September 2020. This ensures the UK will match the European Electronic Communications Code Directive, introduced by the European Union.

The DAB+ offering in Paris continues to expand with the launch of three new stations. Specifically, euradio, MyZen and Urban Hit are available to DAB+ listeners in the French capital since 25 August 2020.
