The European Radio Show will feature Britain as guest of honour when it takes place in Paris next year. The three-day event is on from 29th to 31st January 2017 and celebrates the medium of radio with around 5,000 guests turning up each time.

Richard Morris, says that filtering the audio before the signal is encoded can be beneficial, since it can make it easier for the encoder to do a good job. “For UK DAB back in 2000, we noted that the output of the most commonly-used encoder only went up to about 13 KHz when set to 128 kbits joint stereo, so it made sense to filter off anything above this.” 

The new stereo radio combines all reception possibilities on transmitters via DAB+, Internet and FM in a retro-designed housing.

There’s also Bluetooth, DAB radio and a 10-speaker sound system – for when you get bored of listening to the engine.

Myanma Radio and TV (MRTV), after launching a public tender, will now start a DAB trial. The trial system will be built-out by the Hong Kong-based system integrator BTL. Paneda will provide DAB Head-End Equipment and support. The trial will start with one transmitter in the largest city Yangon, and after the trial the project will be evaluated. Further plans include an expansion to more cities.

The sonoroCD 2 is now available in the limited edition colour Havana, which is on sale for €399.

Bavarian Radio continues the expansion of its DAB+ network in Bavaria, by launching in the Gaißach area near Bad Tölz.

Ford’s latest SYNC 3 infotainment system is being offered on the Fiesta for the first time. Using an eight-inch tablet-inspired touchscreen, SYNC 3 features DAB radio across the range, along with USB ports and Bluetooth connectivity as standard.

The radio is a 1950s-inspired design with modern-era technology including So DAB+, DAB and FM reception. The two new colours are Cobalt Blue and Fuchsia Pink, both of which are available now.

The Radio industry has launched its new mobile streaming app featuring 250 radio stations. “RadioApp is the best way to stream radio on your smartphone because it puts commercial AM, FM and DAB+ digital radio stations as well as ABC and SBS stations all into one place,” said CRA chief executive officer Joan Warner.
