On March 28, national radio broadcaster Voice of Vietnam (VOV) hosted the DAB+ Digital Voice Broadcasting Conference in Hanoi, Vietnam. During the event, Radio the Voice of Vietnam (TNVN) organised a workshop testing the standard of DAB+ radio in Vietnam.

In-car listening remains one of the most popular ways for Australians to listen to radio and the growing audiences on the road are expected to contribute to the significant growth of DAB+ over the next five years.

Last week's first DAB+ ratings for 2017 show that Double J is Australia's most-listened to digital-only radio station - available on mobile devices, DAB+ digital radio, digital TV and online - with a weekly reach of 200,000 across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.

Having attended Radiodays Europe last week, James Cridland sums up his experience. "It’s easy to think that, with the internet, we have access to all the inspiration we need. The Irish radio network RTÉ is planning to broadcast a version of RTÉ Radio 1 in the UK via the DAB networks. The domestic Radio 1 program will be enriched with information and broadcasts specifically for the Irish community in the UK.

The 2017 Radio Days Europe conference was full of tried and true exhibitors, who have been serving the radio industry for years, and there were also some new products and services on show. 

Privatradio-Mux in Eastern Poland started operation in Kielce at the beginning of March. Since the start of 2016 there has also been a test operation running in Szczawnica, Southern Poland. Polskie Radio has now established a DAB+ network in Poland, which supplies most of the major cities.

Geneva has launched the Touring S: a portable, FM/DAB+ radio with Bluetooth connectivity. It has also relaunched its ‘Classic’ series with a complete technical upgrade. Headline features include DAB/DAB+/FM radio, Bluetooth wireless streaming and touch controls.
