Digital radio sales have soared in the last four month period, according to the latest data from Commercial Radio Australia (CRA).

A surge in DAB Digital Radio sales has been attributed to retailers embracing the technology and promoting receivers in the lead-up to major sales events last year.

The 66 page 2013 Digital Radio Industry Report, has been released by Commercial Radio Australia showing digital radio sales figures have risen to a total of 192,974* in a four month period while listening continues to grow.

The highest ever sales figures of DAB devices were recorded over the 2012/2013 Christmas and New Year period bringing the total number of digital radios sold since launch to 1,195,940.

Standard equipment includes panoramic roof, 18-inch wheels and keyless start and the only thing we found truly missing off the spec list was a DAB radio.

Digitalradio Norway has signed an agreement with UK Radioplayer and will launch a new type of radio player for Norwegian radio channels. The British system, in Norway being named Radio.no, makes it easier to listen to online radio. The radio player contents features adding new dimensions to the use of Internet radio.

The space on the dashboard that was once reserved for the car radio has morphed into a digital gateway offering everything that the web has to offer.
