Digital radio is on the agenda over the next year now that the digital TV licence process is underway, says Thailand’s media regulator.

The BBC's national digital radio services are being extended to Guernsey.It is part of a move to bring the Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) service to 2.5 million people in the British Isles before the end of 2015.

BBC Director of Distribution Dr Alix Pryde announced plans to add 162 new digital radio transmitters to improve DAB coverage for its national network stations to more than 97 percent, according to Radio Today.

The BBC is set to launch DAB across Gloucestershire in two phases.

Global Radio Founder and Executive President Ashley Tabor, speaking during his interview on stage at the Radio Festival in Salford said "Global Radio is supportive of the digital radio future. “It’s very important we have a positive decision from the Government on the DAB switchover in December, Ashley said on the upcoming announcement in December.“What we need is for the Government to say DAB will be the predominant radio listening platform in the future. That will unlock the funding to take it forward.”

The BBC's new director of radio has called for mobile phones to come installed with digital radio receivers because the experience of streaming radio on smartphones is so poor.

Steul Willi, Director of Deutschland Radio in an interview with a digital magazine said "A clear commitment to DAB+ and, to a future transition to digital terrestrial broadcasting - as we see in England, Norway, Denmark or Switzerland - is missing here".
