Media Broadcast enables DAB+ reception in the Elbe Tunnel
05.09.2023 - GermanyDrivers in Hamburg's Elbe Tunnel are now able to receive a total of 38 radio programmes in the best quality via DAB+. From now on, they no longer have to do without the interference-free listening pleasure of their favourite programme in the car while driving through the approximately 3.3 km long tubes. This is made possible by the new transmitter system that Media Broadcast has built and put into operation. It supplies all four tubes with digital programmes. This also increases safety for the more than 100,000 car and truck drivers every day: For the announcement of warning messages, the DAB+ programmes can be muted and the emergency information can be recorded by the control centre.

AVT’s MAGIC DABMUX plus monitoring decoder
05.09.2023 - AVT Audio Video Technologies GmbH WorldDAB MemberTo serve the increasing requirement for centralised DAB monitoring, AVT from Germany release their new monitoring decoder at IBC. The system is based on the hardware of their popular DAB+ Multiplexer. The monitoring decoder succeeds the MAGIC AD1 that was aimed primarily at older ETI networks. The new system can monitor up to 50 EDI inputs simultaneously while also decoding 25 signals at a time. “We had the intention of offering a scalable monitoring solution to give customers the chance to cut down on hardware while keeping management centralised,” says Lukas Mahler, Jr. Marketing & Sales Manager at AVT.

Preparing Bahrain's private radio studio building with international DAB+ equipment
04.09.2023 - DIGIDIA WorldDAB Member - BahrainEngineer Abdullah Al Balushi, Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Affairs at the Ministry of Information, said that the transmitters were provided with the digital headend system from the French company Digidia, the radio broadcasting system from the German company Rohde & Schwarz, the antenna system from the German company Kathrein - all well-known companies internationally. He explained that the new studios feature DAB+ technology, which displays information on the screen of radio receivers’ devices, ensures exceptional sound quality, provides more opportunities to choose stations, creates revenue opportunities, and also has the feature of targeted advertisements.

DAB+ launches in Bahrain alongside new studios opened by Deputy King

Launceston set to get DAB+ Digital Radio
04.09.2023 - AustraliaLaunceston is set to become the 11th Australian city to get DAB+ Digital Radio. The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) are now calling for public submissions on proposed changes to Tasmania’s radio spectrum – which would see the launch of digital radio in Launceston. The ABC have been conducting test DAB+ transmissions in Launceston since June 2023, and say they now hope to make the service permanent. The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA), which represents Launceston stations City Park Radio, Way FM and Print Radio Tasmania, says they and their member stations are looking forward to launching on DAB+ as a “priority”.

Radio Bollerwagen now also in Saxony
04.09.2023 - GermanyFrom 4 September, Radio Bollerwagen can also be received via DAB+ in Dresden, Chemnitz and Freiberg. This means that the party station of the ffn media group from Hanover is now also represented in local multiplexes in eastern Germany for the first time. "Saxony is one of the most important radio markets in the east. More on offer on DAB+: Qmusic 90s & 00s
04.09.2023 - NetherlandsFrom 1 September, a new radio station can be heard on the digital airwaves (DAB+): Qmusic 90s & 00s. DPG Media's radio station with non-stop music from the 90s and 00s can be heard via DAB+ on channel 9C and via the Internet. Previously, JOE 70s & 80s could be heard on this channel. This radio station can now be heard nationwide via FM under the name JOE and thus moves to channel 11C in the digital ether.
