Commercial radio in Australia reaches new heights with DAB+

More than 10 million people listened to commercial radio each week last year across metropolitan cities - the record figure represents a 1.4% increase from the year prior, and a 9.7% increase in the last five years. In that same period, the number of those listening to DAB+ in their car in metropolitan centres rose by 107.9 percent.

Dynamic reconfiguration on DAB+ strengthens local radio

The Bavarian regulator BLM and regional radio station Charivari have launched a pilot project to provide local content using dynamic reconfiguration whereby five local programmes are assigned to three DAB+ channels every half hour. DAB+ distribution for private radio becomes more economical because only three digital transmission signals are used for five transmission areas. This approach strengthens local radio in the digital world, making it fit for the future.
