At 10.00am today, the FM transmitters fell silent in Sogn og Fjordane, Hordaland, Rogaland, Aust-Agder and Vest-Agder. P4, Radio Norway, P5 Stavanger, NRJ Stavanger, Radio Sandnes, P5 Bergen and NRJ Bergen have ceased broadcasting on FM, with all nationwide radio broadcasts now on DAB and other digital platforms.

Just as many people listen to radio after FM shutdown

Today, nationwide radio broadcasts will be extinguished on the FM network in southern and western Norway. Next Wednesday, NRK will disappear from the FM band in Oslo, Akershus, Østfold and Vestfold. In Nordland, where NRK switched its FM broadcasts on January 11 this year, Digitalradio Norway has found that radio broadcasting has now stabilized at the same level as last year.

Radio listening in Nordland now at same level as before FM shutdown

Radio-listening is hitting the same levels as before FM switch off began in January 2017. The first DSO-regions in Norway are already show strong listening figures. The new digital radio survey, released today, displays that listeners first and foremost choose DAB radio in the transition to digital radio. 84 percent of all households now have one or several DAB radios, corresponding to about 4.75 million DAB radios in total.

Radio / Tele FFH considering DAB+ expansion
