The need to combine the efforts of public and commercial broadcasters for the successful development of digital radio was voiced during discussions around the future of digital radio at the WorldDAB session at IBC2017.

Responses to the consultation on DAB+ close on the 4th October. Under the guidance of Nicolas Curien, the Council is proposing an accelerated deployment plan focusing on major urban areas and roads.

Active cars come with digital dashboard dials, rear parking sensors, a DAB radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity.

As standard, the most basic Polo receives an eight-inch infotainment screen with DAB radio.

More and more Dutch people are listening to DAB+ radio. Currently, about two million people listen to DAB+ in the Netherlands, a figure that has tripled since 2015.

More than 719,000 DAB+ radios have already been sold in the Netherlands. This was announced during Digital Radio Day. Meanwhile, 13% of Dutch population say they listen to radio via DAB+. During the last 12 months, 154,000 DAB+ radios for cars have been sold including cars delivered with DAB+ as standard.

The facelift was the usual stuff, with interior and exterior updates and new standard equipment across the range including Air Con and DAB.

The updated system has a seven-inch colour touchscreen for easy navigation, with features including RDS with Traffic Programme, Eco Routing and DAB digital radio.

Digital Radio UK is taking its ‘Doing the DAB’ event to Northern Ireland, following the success of sessions across England and Scotland. Doing the DAB: Belfast will be part of the Belfast Media Festival on 17th November, with speakers confirmed so far including people from the BBC and commercial radio operators in Northern Ireland.

Speakers including Culture Minister Mette Bock, Teracom Boss, Martin Løbel and BBC's Steve Titherington, spoke at a press conference on the expansion of DAB+ across Denmark. DAB+ provides listeners with radio that is not dependant on IP or dictated by algorithms with more choice compared to standard FM. Watch the videos.
