DIGIDIA and Clearbox Systems have been selected by Broadcast Australia to provide DAB+ digital radio multiplexing, program monitoring and networking timing software, hardware and support. The systems are being deployed in Canberra, Darwin and Hobart.

DAB is almost exactly the same as AM and FM - it’s broadcast radio, received on a little box with an antenna. You don’t need a mobile phone, a data plan, or a SIM card. It’s just broadcast radio - radio as you know it. So losing the 1485 AM transmitter for BBC Radio Humberside is not, quite, the seismic shift that the doom-mongers would want you to get all concerned about. The station is still available on a number of other platforms.

The system has been installed in the existing datacenter and contains both multiplexers and encoders. The system will be used for the Bauer Media expansion of DAB in Denmark, and in particular for its regional broadcasting. Capacity in the multiplexers will be offered also for local radio stations.

From December 2016 to December 2017, the "traditional" channels have fallen in daily listening from 60.2 to 42.1%, while NRK, P4 and Bauer Media niche channels have increased daily listening share from 26.4 to 36%. The difference has never been smaller between the two groups of radio stations.
